BPW/Triangle develops a powerful network of leaders to advocate, educate and cultivate connections.
2018-2019 President's Message
To our fellow BPW Members,We are thrilled and humbled to serve as your co-Presidents for the BPW year 2018-2019. This year will be driven by looking to our history and celebrating our past, as well as looking to our future and striving to achieve more for professional women in the Triangle.
In June 1919, a small group of business and professional women from across North Carolina met in Charlotte, at which time these daring women first organized the NC Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs. Their mission was to support women in their professional endeavors, at a time when women did not yet have the right to vote. Since that time 100 years ago, BPW chapters in North Carolina and around the world, including here in the Triangle, have continued to cultivate leaders in business, as well as leading the charge in advocating for legislation that assists women in obtaining economic equity, health, and civil rights.
As we celebrate this important milestone in BPW’s history in 2019, we are motivated by the achievements of those women to continue to support women’s professional development in the modern era.
Our focus for the 2018- 2019 year will be on the quality of what we do, rather than on the quantity of the events. We will aim to provide superb programming with dynamic speakers who address the interests, needs, and desires of our members. We will identify key legislative areas for which we can advocate.
We will endeavor to grow our membership with women who do not simply wish to exchange business cards, but who seek real relationships and who desire to add value to this organization And we will look to expand the chapter’s scholarship program so that we can support more well-deserving women in our community who wish to further their education.
We want all of our current members, new members and guests to feel like this is an organization where you can find “your tribe”. Our vision that this is a tight- knit community with welcoming, open arms. We are so pleased that you will join us on this journey and we hope that you will meet new women and learn new things that will inspire you.
Cheers to a fantastic year!
